How to Participate in Platoon Partners

Your commitment level can be on one of many levels:

Platoon Coordinator (PC):
A Platoon Coordinator will be assigned a platoon and given the contact information for the platoon. They will make contact with the assigned platoon liaison. The liaison will give the Platoon Coordinator a wants and needs lists for the platoon.
The PC will than use their circle of influence to fill the wants and needs of the platoon and send at least one package a month to the platoon.
There are several ways to go about gathering the supplies:

  • ask friends and family for donations;
  • ask your church or synagogue congregation for donations;
  • ask local service organizations to participate;
  • ask local youth groups (Brownies, Boy Scouts, etc) to participate;
  • solicit local companies to participate with either product or monetary donations (e.g. cash contributions to cover shipping costs);
  • ask those companies you come in contact with to allow you to put drop boxes within their company so their customers and employees may donate;
  • go to local schools and ask if classes would like to help by collecting supplies, sending emails, and letters. Each class could pick a month to participate.

There are endless ways to collect the monthly supplies. All you need is a team of support, some creativity, and the strength to ask for help.

The role of the PC is not to do all the work, but to assemble a team to help get the message out, and collect and ship the supplies.

If the response is so positive that the donations you collect are more than your platoon can handle, you can ask for an additional platoon.

Support person to a Platoon Coordinator:

This person will support the PC by asking for donations, collecting donations, or donating to a specific platoon.

Program Supporter:

Program supporters will drop off supplies, packages or money at designated drop off sites or mail directly to a specified address.

I understand that donating goods on a monthly basis is a big commitment. Still it pales in comparison to the commitment our troops have made and continue to make for our country and for all of us. Whatever you can do, whenever you can, will be greatly appreciated by these men and women.
